Honestly I think we can all agree this site is far past being a respectable car site. Its honestly just here to bring "Teh Lulz" which since the 2 members were banned it hasnt brought nearly as many "Lulz" as before. Thus the site has gone downhill even more so. A few of us try to continue to bring "teh lulz" but its more difficult now.

I'd like to personally thank you for taking the hundred or so hours spent building this site / community and turning it into something that is past being a respectable car site. It's 100% up to the community for it to be a productive tool, so you yourself are to blame.

I'm sorry VTRides is no longer feeding you the lulz, and you feel it is your job to bring yourself the lulz on VTRides instead of somewhere else, where only your own time is wasted. But since the lulz only happens for you when you have received the attention (good or bad) that you were striving hard for, perhaps, and I highly recommend this, you should find the lulz somewhere else where lulz are more a site's primary / intended purpose.

Right this place isnt about just "teh lulz" its also about our local car community and banning two active and key members over trivial things such as "dumb posts" hurts our car community in the end. Its kinda dumb that they cant post on these boards but are still able to come to the meets and get along with everyone just fine Rolling Eyes

Let the "punishment fit the crime" in this case perma bans are a bit excessive. Its not like they commited any crimes, threatened bodily harm on someone or hacked the site etc..

I don't have time to deal with children, chase around someone's posts, delete fake and offensive accounts, members calling me gay / other offensive shit, spam, and all the other nonsense that people that get along well with the community in person do when they're online desperate for attention and full of greasy faced teen ego.

I'm sure Tanner and that enthusiastic, misdirected teenage kid with a bright and hopeful future not including spending all day and night on the internet harassing me are perfectly cool in person, but start wasting the time of my moderators or myself and I will look for the fastest way to return to my day job and personal life.

I'm not saying VTrides has always been like this. Here's the issue with the site. Its become so small that basically its the OG users who are more or less all friends in one way or another and then there are the n00bs. The OG understand how eachother jokes/uses sarcasm. The n00bs dont and thats where the issues start. I didnt mean to make it sound like I thought you did a poor job of making a site. I enjoy laughing and making other people laugh, in real life and on forums. I think that clearly transfers into how I post here. I think most will agree this place is more fun when there are jokes and not just SRS BZNS.

I'd like to see us all work together, on making this site more respectable, seems all people do is knock it down these days.
Honestly I'd really hate to see such hard work on a respectable site go to waste. If we all can make that happen, eventually we'll see things back in the balance of things, along with a more variety crowd, and less less fake profiles.
Think of it this way, You just get done building an awesome ride, you have a sense of pride, and admiration, and eventually people little by little lend a hand here and there, then along comes someone that makes things more worse than better, as time progresses, that ride you worked hard for, takes a turn for the worse, all of that hard work, is like a slap in the face, or a kick in the nerds.
Just my 2 cents.

Hey, I appreciate the reasonable response to my angry replies.

It's actually pretty typical OG/forum behavior now that I think about it. Guys get bored, flame noobs, and start deteriorating conversations because it just isn't interesting anymore, since the same convo was had on here 3 years ago.

Things do need to be less serious around here, but:
1.) Quality of posting (unless it's a thread in general chat) still needs to be upheld. No mischief, no out of context internet humor.
2.) Mods need to not be antagonized.
3.) Drama should be avoided, not created for the sake of entertainment.

I'll be honest. I couldn't give a crap if you swore or didn't want to give up your first name. The rules are there to inspire a particular community / culture that is productive. If we're all friends here, we should know each other's first names. If you're not going to give it up, IMO, that's fine, but it's also lame. Do you really have so much to hide you don't want people to associate your screenname with you? If you swear on the forum does it really matter? Not really. But if it turns into a ghetto swearfest of a site, then it does.

Nothing about this site has changed since 2006 except for the community involved. If anything, I've had less involvement because I haven't lived in VT since 2006. The ups and downs are purely community driven. It's really what you guys make it.

honestly, these days, the less moderation the better. there really aren't that many people on here to deal with anyway. the only reason a person should be banned (or at least warned) should be when they specifically attack a certain member or mod. msf was created because mazdas247 was lame as hell, way too overmoderated, and pretty much run by the vendors (a very common occurrence in big communities, but that doesn't really apply here). The community that has been built up from that is definitely the place for anything technical about the MZR DISI, and has numerous respectable members, who have not gone back to the "overmoderated" sites. The main point of this, is that its a pretty much anything goes community (unless, like I said, someone specifically attacks a mod), and it has created an environment where great information flourishes. much more than m3f or m247...
