2007 - Early Fall
The Black Talon exlpoded in Canada at the drag strip.
I drove it home at ~20mph in fifth, pistons slappin, car shakin, cops followin and a smile on my face the whole way.
2007 - Late Fall
Jumped on a craigslist ad for a new Talon from lower NH. It only lives/drives because of things taken from the Black Talon. When they're in the garage together I play Spice Girls - 2 become 1.
2008-04
I recently blew the motor in the White Talon. Its being rebuilt, Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger!
2008-05
Rodney (rodney/vtnismo) is buying an '08 350z. We have a bet. First one to run a 12 second 1/4 mile and back it up wins!!! ITS ON
2008-06-25
White Talon is finished! Back to daily driving it. Rodney never got the Z, but I'm still shootin for 12's. I <3 B00ST
2008-09-05
Took it to the drag strip to get some seat time. No 12's but for being incomplete, she hauls. I expect to make it to the track at least twice more this year... hitting 12's easy. Next paycheck comes the WB02 for tuning, new plugs and wires to stop the breakup, non bleed style MBC, and maybe some stiffer bushings.
2009-01-14
Car is fairly tuned and running very strong with new parts. Other than mad lifter tick in the cold I'm happy. I feel a mid 12 pass is totally possible if I can pull a 1-2 shift fast enough. Next step is to build up my spare tranny and head.
2009-06: Ride of The Month!
Blew the turbo on Sunday May 31. Was un-drivable for the first half as ROTM. I tossed some nice new BC272 cam shafts in an over spun the poor 16g on the test drive. She pulled good though. I ended up not just getting another 16g. Went a bit bigger. The new s256 and exhaust bits are in. Need to work out the fan radiator situation and finish oil and intake things.
2009-08
Along with blowing my 16g, the more aggressive cams blew out the seals in my head. I was burning quite a bit of oil. I never got a clean pass at the track, but ran two mid 13s letting off at the top of 3'rd. Finally re-calibrated my sensors, fixed the tune and found the car performing much much better. All this just before blowing the s256 due to some sort of lubrication/heat problem. While I have the turbo off. I've decided to clean up all the misc things I've been neglecting and put another head on.
2009-09
First run of late September, 12.8. Left that night with a best of 12.6. Lots of room for improvement too. I'm happy.
2009-12
No more racing. Ended the season late in November. Bested a 12.2 at 116. Still small things to fix to dial in the tune. Goals met, 12 second car I drive to work. Trapped 115 or faster. 0-60 under 4 seconds on street tires.
A run
2010-01
Rushed a trip to the dyno. Got a new BOV and some other things cleaned up. The HKS designed BOV seals harder with more boost. I layed down some decent numbers for that day was able to tune in more power and make the tune safer. Lots of potential in this setup still. Very eager to get to race again.
2010-03
End of the month, just took the first trip to the drag strip this year. Ran a few 12.0x's at 120mph. Thats about as fast as a 12 second car can get. Time to fix up the brakes, re-do some wiring, clean up the bay, small misc things like that.
2010-08
Been daily driving the car for a year now. Still runs 12s, but thats good 'cause since I'm not putting any real power down I don't need to maintain it. Underpowered cars like this don't need maintaining. I'll just keep doing what I do.
